CULT MOVIE:SID AND NANCY(1986)

This is the "Peter Pan version" of the lives of Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen according to Johnny Rotten.Which makes you wonder which version of Peter Pan Mr Rotten Snr regaled the Rotten household with.Cox now feels the ending (where the couple's ghosts take a taxi ride into the sunset) was too romantic but almost everything else in this film stacks up as the punk paramours descend into heroin hell.Courtney Love has a small part as one of Nancy's friends.Julien Temple's The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle is also worth a look but Cox's film is a work of brilliance and rare compassion.
